What’s Happening in April?

March 20, 2019 in Lifestyle

For the Movers

Held on the Friday closes to the full or new moon Moonfest is a healing meditation session hosted by the folks behind Yogafest!

All you have to do is head down to Dubai Internet Sit, mat in hand. Make a minimum donation of AED 50 per person and get involved. During April you can get bendy on the 5th and 22nd from 4 – 7pm.

During the full moon, you will practice a gentler style of yoga like hatha and yin yoga as the energy of the moon is said to be more contemplative and reflective. However, during the new moon you may feel a lack of energy so you will practice a stronger style of yoga like ashtanga vinyasa and power yoga.

For the Health Conscious

April 7th 2019 sees World Health Day celebrated around the world. Thanks to the efforts of the World Health Organisation people around the world come together to make a change. This year WHO’s goal is achieving universal health coverage.

But what does that mean? Put simply it is ensuring that everyone has access to the care they need, when they need it. This video from WHO helps to explain it a little bit more:

Remember, health care is your right and the right of your family, let’s tell our leaders all people deserve quality health care. To find out more and see what you can do to help visit the World Health Organisation’s website

For the Eco Friendly

This year Earth Day focuses on protecting our species by raising awareness and asking people to do their part to protect the Earth. Their goals for 2019 include:

  • Educating and raising awareness about the accelerating rate of extinction of millions of species and the causes and consequences of this phenomenon.
  • Achieving major policy victories that protect broad groups of species as well as individual species and their habitats.
  • Building and activating a global movement that embraces nature and its values.
  • Encouraging individual actions such as stopping pesticide and herbicide use.

Everyone can play a part in protecting our planet, no matter how big or how small. To learn more about how you can get involved in this year’s Earth Day campaign visit their website
